LA COOPERATIVA
A children’s museum in Rome
Museo dei Bambini Società Cooperativa Sociale Onlus (Social Co-operative) runs Explora. IEstablished in 1998, it is registered with the Camera di Commercio, the Register of Social Cooperatives and RUNTS.
It adheres to Confcooperative – Unione Provinciale di Roma, Federsolidarietà and Federazione Confcooperative Cultura Turismo Sport.
Explora is a non-profit Cooperative, with a female majority. Its main mission is to set up and run this institution dedicated to children, schools and families.
The cooperative operates with quality system EN ISO 9001:2015 for ‘Design and provision of play and educational activities for children from 0 to 12 years’ EA39, for ‘Design and provision of training services’ EA37 (Certificate No. IQ-0607-01 Dasa Rägister) and for Gender Equality UNI/PdR 125:2022 (Certificate No. IPDR-0924-10 Dasa Rägister).
Explora is a private museum with no public fundings: the museum ticket is the main important income for the cooperative. Explora supports itself mainly thanks to tickets, corporate sponsorships, European and national calls, services, shop and bookshop.
It is a member of Ecsite, the European network of science museums and science centers, of Hands On! International, an international network that brings together museum entities from all over the world aimed at children; it is a museum that is part of the Regional Museum Organization (O.M.R.) of the Lazio Region and is an Associate of the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development (ASviS).

Coordinates the development and activities of the Museum, works on fundraising and projects with companies, oversees the ticketing, communication, and quality sectors. Together with the administration, she is responsible for producing the annual financial statement.
EXHIBIT AND SETUP DESIGN
oversees the conception, design, and creation of the exhibits and play routes, working on prototypes that are then tested, tried, and presented to the public and regularly monitored. supervises and manages both regular and special maintenance of the facility’s systems and manages the maintenance warehouse.

Creates, develops, and produces the prototypes of all the workshops offered to the public (families, schools, and businesses). Takes care of the educational content of the play paths, exhibits, readings, camps, and birthday parties. Manages the warehouse of materials for the workshops; is responsible for regular training of internal animators and collaborators and for teachers when it is not provided by external trainers; coordinates, manages, and monitors the work of animators during visits and public activities.
