GENDER EQUALITY AND QUALITY
Gender equality
Since 1998, the Children’s Museum, a female-led social cooperative that manages Explora, has encouraged an inclusive culture based on gender equality through its mission, exhibition design and activities.
Awareness-raising activities and inclusion programmes have always been a key focus of the museum’s design. One example is the Pari (Equal) exhibition (visit the dedicated page), which opened to the public in 2019 and consists of 12 stations that explore stereotypes and prejudices, equality and rights and duties.
This awareness has led Explora to embark on a path towards UNI/PdR 125:2022 certification, awarded to the museum by Dasa-Räegister. The Museo dei Bambini S.C.S. has decided to adopt a Gender Equality Management System (SGPG), in line with current practice, to promote gender equality and the professional growth of women, as well as to create an inclusive environment that values the uniqueness of its workforce.
In line with the Strategy for Gender Equality 2020-2025 defined by the European Union, Explora, through its Gender Equality Policy (Read the document), is committed to preventing discrimination, promoting diversity and fostering work-life balance, applying this policy to all stages of professional development.
Obtaining certification is only the first step in implementing gender equality policies and improving staff well-being.
The Cooperative is inspired by the principles of impartiality, fairness, staff development and combating all forms of violence and discrimination. Among the main goals that the cooperative intends to pursue are:
Furthermore, also in 2024, the cooperative obtained the contribution provided for by the Lazio Region’s Impresa Rosa call for proposals, which is part of this growth path, encouraging companies to adopt gender equality management systems.

Explora’s example demonstrates that gender equality is not only an ethical principle, but also a key factor for business success and sustainability. Investing in inclusion policies means improving worker well-being, increasing productivity and contributing to a fairer and more equitable society for all.
Quality Certificates
The cooperative also operates under the EN ISO 9001:2015 quality system for the design and provision of recreational and educational activities for children aged 0 to 12 years – EA39, and for the design and provision of training services – EA37 (Certificate No. IQ-0607-01 Dasa Rägister).
ISO 9001 is an international standard that defines the criteria for a Quality Management System (QMS) applicable to any organisation, regardless of size or sector. Its aim is to improve business efficiency and performance through good management practices.
The assessment criteria include context analysis, risk management and organisational knowledge. The requirements include the definition of measurable objectives, leadership support, organisational chart and process monitoring.
The certification is issued by Dasa-Rägister S.p.A. (visit the page), after an audit that verifies the conformity of the system.
