INFORMATION

Duration: May 2023 – May 2026

Contribution: 54.030,00 euro

Description

Storie in Movimento  is a project created to promote the healthy motor and nutritional development of pre-school children with interventions involving teachers, families and institutions.

The project is coordinated by Con i Bambini and Fondazione Cariverona,  and coordinated by Gruppo Pleiadi. The activities are carried out according to an innovative and evidence-based approach and organized by teachers guided and trained by researchers of the Research Centre on Motor Development in Childhood of the University of Verona and by operators of third sector realities specialized in innovative didactic approaches.

Objectives

The project aims to train teachers for the organization of family and school activities, and information and educational events for the community in areas affected by educational poverty in four cities: Verona, Rome, the metropolitan areas of Naples and Caserta and Palermo.
Together with the activities, educational materials were designed and produced to inform, communicate and disseminate the project.

The activities

The project is divided into three macro-phases

  1. Teacher training

A first phase envisages the training of a group of preschool teachers at a national level, supported by the intervention of third sector realities participating in the project and coordinated by teachers from the University of Verona.
The cycle of on-line training appointments are designed to learn about and use innovative methodologies capable of conveying and emphasizing the importance of motor activities within didactic programmes, with particular attention to the education of a healthy approach to food.

2. Activities in schools
Teachers participating in the training activities will be supported in the design of play and didactic paths focusing on movement and nutrition.
Teachers will be supported by the previously trained staff of third sector organisations and playful-educational meetings will be planned to be held in the classroom. From these meetings, ‘stories in motion’ will be generated, stories and games to be played in the open air linked to places, characters and legends.

3. Moving stories day
Each year, an information day open to all citizens will be held to meet local families through games, activities and meetings.  The day includes meetings with educational services and institutions in the metropolitan area.
