Oltre Little STEM

The project for learning scientific subjects

INFORMATION

Project duration: October 2026 – June 2027

Grant: €10,000

Description

‘Oltre Little STEM’ is the fourth year of a project funded by the ‘Otto per Mille’ scheme of the Waldensian Church (Union of Methodist and Waldensian Churches), which offers educational activities designed to teach scientific subjects and develop cross-curricular skills among pupils at a school on the north-western outskirts of Rome.

Goal

Oltre Little STEM aims to foster learning and life skills in young children through an educational format combining STEM activities, play and ‘learning by doing’, which has been trialled and has been in use since 2023.

The project promotes the development of cross-curricular, scientific and cognitive skills among nursery school pupils: by introducing them to STEM subjects, the project fosters the development of critical thinking and scientific reasoning through observation, design and experimentation using a hands-on, collaborative approach.

The STEM-focused activities aim to innovate teaching methods and encourage the continuation of these activities in the classroom by offering fun, stimulating and innovative educational and play-based experiences.

Engaging with STEM subjects enhances the cognitive, emotional and interpersonal skills of the children involved, supporting a process of inclusion, growth and group participation.
