Explora 5.0. plugin

INFORMATION

Duration: 26 May – 27 April

Funding: €100,000

The project

Explora 5.0. Plug In – train, include, innovate was launched under the Public Call for Proposals “Regional measures to support social cooperatives” (Article 10 – Regional Law No. 18 of 28 November 2024).

The project is dedicated to the implementation of Explora’s digital platforms to enhance user experience, alongside the production of new, accessible and innovative digital content for schools and the world of education.

Goals

The project is structured around two main themes.

The first concerns the training courses on the Explora Education portal, a platform for educators and teachers.

As part of the project, two new courses will be developed for primary school teachers.

The courses will explore the informed use of AI in schools and digital literacy, in line with the guidelines of UNESCO, the Ministry of Education (MIM) and the European Commission, which emphasise the importance of training teachers in the informed and responsible use of artificial intelligence and recommend strengthening digital skills and the use of AI in schools.

At the same time, existing training courses on the platform will be updated.

All courses will be adapted to the WCAG 2.2 digital accessibility criteria, alongside a training programme dedicated to staff members responsible for managing digital content and the website.

The renovation of Explora Education will also be accompanied by a dedicated communication campaign.

The second key area focuses on the renewal of IT systems, which will lead to improvements and updates to the management software used internally by the cooperative to enhance services for the public and schools.

The project also includes a revamp of the website to increase its accessibility, improve the user experience and optimise service booking processes.

Educational activities and accessibility

Explora 5.0. Plug In aims to develop innovative educational tools and content capable of integrating digital experiences, thereby promoting cross-curricular skills and the informed use of new technologies.

Accessibility is one of the project’s central elements.

Explora 5.0. Plug In involves structured work on digital accessibility, with the aim of making online platforms, content and services easier to use, understandable and accessible to everyone.

Bringing the Explora Education platform into line with WCAG 2.2 standards will improve navigation of the website and learning pathways, fostering a more independent and inclusive experience.

Teacher training

Training for teachers and educators is one of the project’s key pillars.

Explora Education’s new courses will focus on artificial intelligence, digital literacy and the critical and responsible use of technology in schools.

The training programmes will offer practical tools, theoretical insights and activities applicable in the classroom, with the aim of supporting teaching staff in developing new educational and digital skills.

Through an interdisciplinary and workshop-based approach, Explora aims to contribute to the creation of learning environments beyond the museum setting.
