You can buy your ticket online to go directly into the museum

Admission to the museum is limited: each session is restricted to a maximum of 250 visitors.

For this reason, visits are organised into sessions lasting 1 hour and 45 minutes, designed to manage visitor numbers and allow children to explore the spaces more freely.

The visit is self-guided: each visitor is free to choose which activities and routes to follow, based on the children’s interests and playtime.

Tip: every visit is different, so in the 1 hour and 45 minutes, let the children’s curiosity guide you as you choose exploratory experiences to enjoy together.

Get your digital tickets ready on your smartphone: you don’t need to print them.

Tip: to make the most of your visit, we recommend arriving on time for the time shown on your ticket.

If you arrive early, you can wait for your tour to start by visiting our bookshop or making use of the outdoor play area.

Focus on the spaces

You can already download the museum map from the website to help you find your way around more easily during your visit. The same map is available:

• in printed form at the ticket office and in the museum;
• in digital format, available for download via a QR code at the ticket office and in the museum.

Maps for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) are available:

• in digital format on the page dedicated to accessibility. Visit the dedicated page.
• A printed copy is available on request within the museum.

A Braille guide is also available during the visit, along with sensory bags and tactile toys.

Look for the symbols

The symbols in the museum help visitors find their way around and explore a particular theme in more depth, whilst also indicating the age group for which the various activities are most suitable.

Magnifying glass symbol: provides further information on the theme of the game.

Hand symbol: suggests ways to play.

Symbols with numbers and children’s icons: indicate the recommended age.

Tip: look at the symbols together with the children and let their interests guide you, because there is no single way to explore Explora.

Ask to the staff

Sometimes all it takes is a little tip to get you started on your exploration.

The staff, who can be recognised by their green or blue T-shirts, are on hand to provide information or directions, before letting the children carry on with their experience on their own.

Tip: if a game doesn’t seem to be working or you’re not sure how to use it, ask the Explora staff.

Suggestions for adults

Explora is a space to enjoy together. During your visit, you can:

• – Observe how your children play and find out what sparks their curiosity;
• – Encourage exploration through questions and simple suggestions, without giving away all the answers;
• – Respect their own pace and choices: even repeating the same action several times is part of the experience of play and learning;
• – Listening to them and paying attention to what they are doing, whilst valuing their discoveries;
• – Take part in the activities, have fun and share the experience with them.
  

You don’t need to explain everything. Sometimes the best way to support a child is to give them time to observe, try things out, make mistakes and try again.

Let’s play together

The activities at Explora are designed to be explored and shared.

Some games may attract several children at the same time: watch with them to see how to join in, wait for their turn and make room for others.

If an activity is already very busy, you can always choose to explore another area and come back later: at Explora there are lots of different ways to play, discover and experiment.

Some spaces close before the end of the session

The upper floor, featuring the Pari and Economiamo trails, and the Piccole esplorazioni area, dedicated to children aged 0 to 36 months, close 15 minutes before the end of the session.

If you wish to visit these areas, we recommend including them in your itinerary before the last 15 minutes.

Economiamo

To play the Economiamo trail, you need to print out a game card directly at the entrance to the trail, on the upper floor.

Water

There is a drinking water dispenser inside the pavilion. We recommend that you bring a water bottle or a foldable cup with you.

Parcking

Please contact the information desk or the ticket office to take benefit of the reduced parking rate.

Best times to avoid the crowds

If you’d prefer to visit Explora at times when it’s generally less crowded, we recommend:

• on weekdays: the 3.00 pm and 5.00 pm sessions, except for the period between 26 December and 6 January;
• at weekends: the period from April to September.

However, the level of crowding may vary depending on public holidays, events and holiday periods.
