Explora is a permanent facility in the heart of Rome, open since 2001, dedicated to children ages 0 to 11.
For more than 20 years, it has been a leading destination for informal education and creative activities for families, schools, and the world of childhood.
A space where exploration and play become an experience of growth and sharing: with its 2,000 square meters of interactive installations dedicated to Science, New Technologies, Environmental Sustainability, Gender Equality, Art, and Research, the Museum offers a unique and innovative opportunity that fosters curiosity, motivation, and discovery.
The sound in the video is the result of EUROMUSE, an innovative artistic research project co-funded by the European Union’s Creative Europe Program.
The project, which began in November 2024, aimed to develop a new genre of music for museums, with the goal of increasing visitor numbers and enhancing their experience.
For Explora, two young composers, Maia Steinberg (Netherlands) and John Kotsilakis (Greece), participated in the project to create a model of participatory and experimental musical co-creation for museum institutions, through an interactive process involving museum professionals, researchers, and active groups of museum visitors (Community Muse Boards, CMB).
The project views music as a delicate mechanism that enables a deeper engagement of visitors to various museums and exhibitions in the discovery of a profound understanding and the enhancement of the appreciation of national and European heritage.
