Little Stem 2
Teaching activities for learning science subjects
INFORMAtion
Project duration: November 2024- August 2025
Contribution: € 12,000
Description
Little STEM 2 is the second year of a project realised with Otto per Mille funds from the Chiesa Valdese ( Union of Methodist and Waldensian Churches) that proposes educational activities for the learning of scientific subjects and the development of transversal skills for pupils, contributing to overcoming the conditions of educational poverty in a suburb of Rome.
Objectives
The project continues a path begun last year, aimed at supporting science education and learning in STEM subjects: approaching these subjects from an early age encourages the development of critical thinking and scientific reasoning through observation, design and experimentation using a laboratory and cooperative method.
Activities dedicated to STEM aim to innovate teaching and encourage the continuation of classroom activities by offering fun, stimulating and innovative educational and playful experiences.
The approach to STEM improves the cognitive, emotional and relational skills of the children involved, supporting a process of inclusion, growth and group participation.
Explora’s activities
Thanks to the project Explora will realise:
- 10 classroom meetings with STEM activities for 116 pre-school boys and girls aged 3 to 6 involved in the project;
- involvement of families with STEM workshop activities to be carried out together at home to foster educational continuity;
- free digital teaching sheets (e-books) for teachers on STEM methodology and competence-based teaching, downloadable from the Explora Education platform
- 5 visits to Explora and 4 educational courses on food, environment, colours and science to increase the educational opportunities, extracurricular training and transversal skills of 116 children and their families.
