I do not hate

A project against all forms of violence.

Bambina abbraccia signora adulta

Description

Explora, the Children’s Museum of Rome, is among the partners to I Do Not Hate, a project sponsored by the Regione Lazio through Lazio Innova, conceived for new generations, aiming at countering all sorts of violence and discrimination. I Do Not Hate is a process of reflection on inclusion and countering violence, gender stereotypes, bullying, cyberbullying, hate speech and action against any form of discrimination.

ACTIVITIES BY EXPLORA
Explora will put forward a series of initiatives for students of primary schools.
Educational activities at the Museum: their goal is to encourage girls and boys to recognise gender stereotypes; reflect on the way equality and uniqueness, rights and duties have an impact on our behaviours and encourage an attentive and responsible attitude towards others by fostering growth and self-esteem. The visit is structured to allow students to live an engaging experience, away from school, in a stimulating, emotionally enabling environment providing food for thought with workshops and a visit to the EQUAL play-based activity.

Visits in classrooms: these are thought to reflect on the ability to interact with one another and respect others; encourage an attentive and responsible attitude towards others and ourselves by fostering growth and self-esteem; deconstruct gender stereotypes. Students can therefore live experiences that help them become aware of their own and others’ emotions.

Educational kit for classrooms: made and delivered by Explora, the kit consists of materials to be used for carrying out the activities that teachers can then manage themselves. Specifically, the educational kit is focused on perceiving emotions, allowing girls and boys alike to express themselves and respect their own and others’ emotions. All the activities in the kit are designed to be followed by students and teachers while in class, together. Each kit comes with a live webinar that allows teachers to get to know better the materials in it.

Online training course: developed to tackle the issue of stereotypes and prejudice about social identity and the process of formation of personality of girls and boys, it helps explore the potentials of communication as a means by which stereotypes and prejudice are conveyed, and values and thoughts as well. The four-hour course is available for free and contains recorded video lessons featuring two experts, that introduce and provide a deeper insight into the project’s contents and goals; follow-up educational material developed by experts with drills to promote a reflection about stereotypes and inclusive communication as well as self-evaluation forms; ideas for educational activities to be carried out with students.

The website

The new I Do Not Hate website is online, a platform of digital contents about the main campaign’s themes: countering any form of violence and discrimination. A virtual space for young people, speaking their languages, freely accessible to both girls and boys.
The website is the most significant news about this fourth edition of the I Do Not Hate project: the virtual space provides a very large and varied offering, available to all. The new platform is active with the first multimedia contents already available and will continue to grow in terms of resources about the campaign’s themes: movies, tv series, documentaries, music playlists, ebooks, masterclasses; as well as ad-hoc initiatives by partners of the projects or initiatives already in place for which the partners will be willing to transfer the rights. Participating students, their families, teachers and schools can have free access to all the website contents, but can also test their skills and create their own contents.

I Do Not Hate, activities for the primary schools of Latium

The first day was held on December 20th

Schools that joined the “I Do Not Hate” project started the first campaign’s activities: after the website was launched on November 24th, 2022, for the first time this year primary schools were involved in the awareness-raising campaign against any form of violence and discrimination.
Some classrooms of the Istituto Comprensivo “Poggiali Spizzichino” took part in the first activities set up by the Explora Museum. For the young pupils of the primary schools, tailor-made activities were set up: recreational and creative activities to be carried out in class and the museum, based on learning by doing, a typical approach of the children’s museums.
The initiatives will involve a total of 500 students from December 20th to June, 2023, at least a primary school for each province of Latium.
