The event of Urban Nature

The Urban Nature initiative (visit the website) stems from the awareness that the climate crisis is having an increasingly dangerous impact on life in cities, putting safety, health and psychological well-being at risk. To address these changes, we need to rethink urban centres, integrating nature and infrastructure and promoting nature-based solutions that can mitigate the effects of climate change and promote biodiversity.

For this reason, the 2025 edition proposes an urban festival spread throughout Italy, a central event in Rome and a contest for schools, with the aim of spreading the culture of urban green care, stimulating shared actions between institutions, communities and citizens, and renewing the way urban spaces are designed and experienced.

The Urban Nature 2025 initiative has received the patronage of the Ministero dell’Ambiente e della Sicurezza Energetica (MASE), Associazione Nazionale Comuni Italiani (ANCI), Istituto Superiore per la Protezione e la Ricerca Ambientale (ISPRA), Società Botanica Italiana (SBI) and Orti Botanici e Giardini Storici. The widespread festival will be organised in collaboration with the Carabinieri Environmental and Agri-Food Forestry Unit Command and the National Association of Scientific Museums (ANMS).
