The event

For the Rome Future Week, from September 16 to 22, in the green area of Explora Museum, Insecta, the virtual exhibition in augmented reality by Habitat, the new software by Explora, opens to the public.

Free entrance and accessible during the Museum opening hours, Insecta is a playful experience in search of insects hidden in Explora’s garden.

The challenge transforms insects from invisible animals to giant creatures in augmented reality, allowing children to browse through the peculiarities of these curious inhabitants of the planet.

The world of insects is always a discovery, with multicoloured wings designed for flying, long antennae, and bodies and legs fit for great leaps.

The Augmented Reality exhibition is an opportunity to discover biodiversity through a challenge between research and observation. The aim is to develop interest in a species that is fundamental to the balance and wellbeing of our Planet, thus promoting its protection.
The choice of animals was determined by the desire to show these life forms, emphasising the importance of their presence even in urban areas.

Insecta is the first exhibition hosted on Habitat, a software designed by Explora that allows to visualise and manage contents in augmented reality without the need to download applications.
Through the camera of our smartphone, by framing special drawings “hidden” in Explora’s garden, it will be possible to visualise a 3D model .

The camera of the device alone, connected to the network and geolocalised, is able to frame the area where the virtual animal is located, making it appear on the screen as a 3D model.

Habitat is a digital proposal entirely developed by Explora and part of the Genius Loci project, realised thanks to the incentive “Transizione digitale organismi culturali e creativi (TOCC)” promoted by Ministero della Cultura e finanziato dall’Unione europea – NextGenerationEU. The Genius Loci project is thus configured as a series of complementary actions capable of strengthening the museum’s positioning in terms of digital innovation and education for sustainability.
