Fake news and media manipulation: an evening dedicated to critical education at the Scomodo editorial headquarters
The event
On Tuesday, 27 January, Explora, Rome’s Children’s Museum, in collaboration with Scomodo, will host a conference entitled What do we believe? Fake news, AI and information.
The event will be held at the Scomodo editorial office and will focus on media literacy and critical thinking, with a specific focus on fake news and information manipulation techniques.
A structured and participatory meeting that combines theoretical reflection, practical tools and game dynamics, designed to stimulate greater awareness in the daily use of the media.
The programme
The initiative begins at 6 p.m. with a brief introduction by Explora and a presentation of the meeting, made possible thanks to the European Medmas project.
The highlight of the meeting is the panel, an open debate with Filosofia Coatta and a surprise guest.
The panel discussion will focus on analysing fake news and the main techniques used to manipulate information: through an open talk format, it will offer critical reading tools to understand the mechanisms of disinformation dissemination and the role of digital media in shaping public opinion.
This will be followed by a practical workshop organised by Scomodo, designed to provide practical tools for recognising and analysing fake news. The workshop favours a participatory approach, transforming participants into active subjects in the observation and verification of information content.
Media Master Game
The second part of the meeting is dedicated to the Media Masters Game, a group activity that uses games as an educational tool to experience first-hand the dynamics of media manipulation. The game is followed by a group discussion, which is useful for sharing reflections and consolidating greater critical awareness on the issue of disinformation.
The event concludes with a final aperitif, designed as an informal moment of networking and exchange, in line with the dialogue and participation promoted by the initiative.
