The event
Saturday, 6 December, second free event with “Più lingue per leggere” (PLIL), promoted by the University of International Studies in Rome – UNINT and dedicated to children and their adult companions.
The event offers a fun and interactive way to read contemporary children’s books in multiple languages. Guided by the images and stories presented, young listeners will be able to follow many interactive and stimulating stories in Italian, English and Spanish, allowing themselves to be intrigued by words, expressions, characters and emotions recounted in different languages and cultures, from the closest to the most distant.
The readings will be led by volunteers such as students, former students and teachers from UNINT University who, as part of the “PLIL – Più lingue per leggere” (More Languages to Read) project, have taken training courses from the national “NpL – Nati per leggere” (Born to Read) programme, a partner in the initiative.
The PLIL Project – More Languages for Reading
More Languages for Reading is a project funded by the University of International Studies in Rome (UNINT). It offers free sessions dedicated to participatory reading in multiple languages for families with children aged two to eleven. The initiative offers an insight into the cultures, societies and history of Europe and the world, thanks to the languages featured in the project: Arabic, Chinese, French, Japanese, English, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, German, as well as Italian and LIS – Italian Sign Language.
With almost 100 titles available, the University Library, located at Via delle Sette Chiese 139 (Garbatella), is open Monday to Friday for book loans.
The readings follow the methodology developed by Nati per Leggere (Born to Read), which includes the “Mammalingua” project. The meetings are held in the UNINT Library or in external venues, in collaboration with schools, libraries, bookshops and summer camps.
Starting this year, UNINT is also collaborating with Explora, the Children’s Museum in Rome.
