The event
Once again, Explora is taking part in the Festival of Science in Rome – Bodies, with activities dedicated to science, on Saturday 12th April in the bookshop and Sunday 13th April in the museum.
Explora’s activities are dedicated to the theme BODIES, chosen for the 20th edition of the festival, promoted at the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone and also in various places and cultural centres in the city of Rome.
The theme is more than an investigation of the human body, and includes bodies of every shape and size, animals, plants, microscopic, heavenly, distant and even technological.
For the occasion, the Explora museum offers its young scientists activities during the visit and events in the bookshop, transforming the laboratory into a workshop of discovery, sharing and fun. On Sunday 13 April, there will also be a reduced entrance fee of 9 euros.
The programme
Reading in the bookshop Saturday 12th April at 4:00 pm – ages 5 and up
Pop Up dello Spazio – to discover the stars, planets, galaxies and other celestial bodies, thanks to the book by Sylvie Baussier and Michel Viso, with illustrations by Didier Balicevic, published by Editoriale Scienza.
Free admission to the bookshop, subject to availability. Reservations at 06 36137761.
In the museum, activities proposed during the visit on Sunday 13th April at 10:00, 12:00, 15:00 and 17:00 (reduced admission to the museum: 9 euros).
- Dove si trova? (Where is it?) – from 6 years: an engaging experience characterised by quizzes and tests with augmented reality, to explore the human body in its essential anatomy and in which children and adults can challenge each other, with the support of digital technologies and recognise the position of organs and systems in an intuitive and informal way;
- Adventure to the Moon! – ages from 3 to 5: A small interactive installation to explore the lunar phases by playing with the full moon, half moon and new moon.
During the visit it is also possible to play and explore Mission Me, the permanent and interactive exhibition that presents some of the human body’s systems and organs. Through a hands-on approach, based on play and sensory stimuli, children can play with the digestive and circulatory systems, discovering the skeletal and nervous systems.
Festival delle Scienze di Roma – Corpi
The concept of a body goes beyond the human body, to include animal, vegetable, microscopic, celestial and hybrid bodies, such as technological ones.
Bodies are complex, connected to ecosystems and social systems; original, vehicles of innovation and expression; responsible, with a political and cultural role; plastic, capable of transformation and adaptation; restless, marked by conflicts, limits and changes.
Reflecting on the body today is essential to maintain the link with the physicality of knowledge and society.
