GREEN AREA
The green area is a large free-admission outdoor space for children and families who can have fun in a safe area equipped with playgrounds and photo exhibitions.
Through experimenting and play, children socialise and develop imagination, creativity, motor and manual skills.
In the green area, they can:
• Playing with water and sand helps children relax, interact and cooperate. Water and sand are natural stimuli that develop their sense of touch, creativity and manual skills;
• Pulley play helps children meet their needs of movement, space exploration, knowledge of their bodies and skills. Children challenge their skills and develop self-confidence;
• Climbing helps children gain body and psychomotor skills. Free play provides endless physical stimuli.
Moreover, children can visit and discover photo exhibitions, which are part of European projects and awareness events that tell about dedicated days and activities by engaging the public.
RESTAURANT
From November 2016, is place of the Antica Pizzeria da Michele in Rome.
Explora is designed to make the stay pleasant for visitors: in addition to the outdoor nature and at the shop and bookstore, there is also a food court in the entrance lobby with a café and a pizzeria, whose management has been entrusted to a company external.

The Explora bookshop is a place to choose books, games, and gadgets selected to stimulate imagination and deepen knowledge through play and experimentation, in true Explora style.

The selection of products in the bookshop is designed to engage the little ones, offering them a journey through the tales of a book, a challenge with their own abilities through quizzes and skill games, and a moment of sharing with friends thanks to numerous educational and board games.

More than a bookshop: a space to share
The Explora bookshop can host book presentations, small press conferences, exhibitions, and creative or language courses, events that encourage the little ones to read, discover, and fantasize; they invite adults to update, delve deeper, and develop contacts and relationships.
The bookshop space is a place to share.
Don’t miss the appointments with Animated Readings, free-entry presentations followed by activities and workshops, offered from autumn to spring, usually on weekends.
A calendar full of meetings with the latest editorial news, selected in collaboration with publishing houses specialized in children’s literature.

PARKING

Opening and closing times
Monday – Sunday: 8.00 am to midnight
August: 8.00 am to midnight (from August 10th to 14th from 8.00am to 5 pm – August 15th the parking is closed)
On December 24th and 31st, the parking will close at 5:00 pm.
Closed: 25th December 1st January
Cars should be collected before closing times.
*Explora’s parking lot is reserved for visitors, it cannot be booked and has a limited capacity until all spaces are filled. It is located at Via Flaminia 86, with access from Via D. A. Azuni or from Via Flaminia. (On your GPS device, just type “Via Domenico Alberto Azuni, I” and go straight to the entrance of your parking lot.)
Visitor fee: 2€ the first three hours – 3€ for each additional hour or fraction thereof after the first three hours
Non-visitor fee: 5€ per hour – 3€ for each additional hour or fraction thereof after the first hour
Did you purchase the entrance ticket to the museum and used the car parking? Remember to:
- Scan your parking ticket at the ticket office or inside the museum;
- Pay at the parking’s automatic cashier or at the ticket office during opening hours;
- Leave the parking lot within 15 minutes after payment.
