The event
Explora is also taking part in the tenth edition of the 2026 Sustainable Development Festival, Italy’s largest initiative aimed at raising awareness and mobilising citizens, the younger generation, businesses, associations and institutions on issues of economic, social and environmental sustainability.
On 16 and 17 May, at 10am, 12pm, 3pm and 5pm, the A Sea of Creativity space will be transformed into a setting that celebrates nature.
A large lawn will feature small but incredibly important creatures: insects.
The activity Life on Land, dedicated to Goal 15 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, highlights the importance of protecting, restoring and sustainably managing terrestrial ecosystems, halting biodiversity loss, deforestation and desertification by 2030.
A fun and creative activity to celebrate nature together with children and understand the importance of safeguarding and protecting the environment. A chance to learn, through play, to distinguish between behaviour that is good and bad for the planet, developing greater environmental awareness in a simple and stimulating way.

The initiative celebrates biodiversity as the cornerstone of the planet’s health, which is under threat from the climate crisis and the resulting loss of habitats. Saving the planet therefore also means protecting the species that inhabit it, such as bees, which ensure the pollination of 75% of the world’s crops and our food security.
Sustainable Development Festival
After the success of previous editions, the annual Sustainable Development Festival returns, taking place from 6 to 22 May 2026 across Italy and online. The Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development (ASviS), together with its more than 300 member organisations, is organising the Festival with the support of its partners and tutors, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out in the UN’s 2030 Agenda.
As every year, the Festival will be organised in collaboration with the whole of civil society: the packed programme of initiatives comes to life thanks to the commitment of citizens, associations, businesses, local authorities, schools and universities, which organise events across Italy to promote a culture of sustainability.
Hundreds of initiatives, taking place throughout May and particularly during the 17 days of the event, will discuss the themes at the heart of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, linking them to the major challenges of innovation, the economic, social and environmental landscape, as well as geopolitical issues, and inequalities between and within countries, with the aim of making these issues accessible and engaging for the general public, thanks to the involvement of experts from all sectors and collaborations with key stakeholders.
