EUROMUSE International Scientific Conference on Museums, Music and Audiences

Belgrade, Serbia · 25–26 April 2026

In April 2026, Belgrade will host the EUROMUSE International Scientific Conference “Museums, Music and Audiences: Towards Open and Research-Based Contemporary Cultural Practice”, organised within the framework of the international EUROMUSE project.

The conference brings together researchers, university lecturers, museum and cultural professionals, composers, sound artists, and experts in audio and digital technologies, with the aim of examining the role of music and sound in contemporary museums and cultural heritage institutions.

The conference programme focuses on music and sound as integral elements of museum experience, audience perception and engagement, as well as on audience research and contemporary data-informed cultural practices. Particular attention is given to applied music and sound design in museum and exhibition contexts, inclusive and participatory cultural models, and interdisciplinary approaches linking artistic creation, scientific research and professional museum practice.

During the conference, key results of the international EUROMUSE project will be presented, integrating original artistic creation (applied music for museum exhibitions) with empirical audience research and contemporary methodologies in the fields of museology, sound studies and cultural management.
