Euromuse: a new call for composers
By 25 January, young composers from Europe (aged between 18 and 30) can apply for the new call launched thanks to the EUROMUSE project, co-funded by the European Creative Programme of the European Union.
Following training sessions, creative residencies and participatory workshops, the selected composers will have the opportunity to compose applied music for the following museums:
- Museo Bambini Explora, Rome, Italy;
- Museu De Arte Pré-Histórica, Macao, Portugal;
- Museo Kotsanas della tecnologia greca antica, Athena, Greece.
The call involves the selection of six composers (two per museum) who will participate in:
- three one-hour online training sessions led by experts (March 2025);
- a seven-day internship (April 2025, museum headquarters);
- participatory online workshops with museum representatives and volunteers from each museum’s Community Museum Board (starting in 2025).
This will be followed by a composition phase (from 15 April to 15 June 2025) and a period of promotion, publication and concerts (May 2026).
Description of the call
The music must be original, lasting 20-30 minutes and linked to the museum, its exhibitions and its characteristics. Electronic, electroacoustic or computer music pieces may be created using musical instruments, provided that performance and recording are guaranteed.
Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered for the seven-day stay, as well as mixing and mastering by the project partners and a prize of €1,000 for the final composition.
The prize
This includes the museum’s right to use the composition without further copyright fees. Experts from the Centre for Applied Music and the IEMA-Greco Music Information Centre will select the compositions by 20 February 2025.
The deadline for submitting applications is 25 January 2025.

Euromuse project
The EUROMUSE project announces its innovative artistic initiative aimed at redefining the museum experience through applied music.
museum experience through applied music. Combining participatory music creation with research, the project seeks to promote deeper connections between visitors and cultural heritage, setting a new standard for engagement in museums.
At the heart of EUROMUSE is the collaborative effort of young composers, museum professionals, researchers and active museum audiences, organised into Community Muse Boards (CMBs). This partnership explores how music can serve as a subtle but powerful means of enhancing visitor engagement, creating lasting memories and attracting visitors.
